Plenty of walks, fantastic scenery and lots to see and do.

 

      Wells City is very quaint and pretty, with its magnificent Cathedral and Bishops Palace . There is also a street market in the Market Square on Wednesdays and Saturdays, throughout the year.  

      Just 6 miles away you will find Cheddar and Wookey Hole which have the most spectacular natural rock formations and breathtaking scenery. There is Jacobs ladder and quaint shops. A great day out.

       There is so much for families to do in the area, from great walks with breathtaking views, to go-kart racing and animal farms, and of course Longleat Safari Park, that we are sure they will not be bored. 

       The village of Street is home to the famous reatil park 'Clarks Village', fantastic shopping for the shopaholic.

        Glastonbury is quite extraordinary with the Glastonbury Tor, said to be the resting place of the Holy Grail.

         We have the Mendip shooting club, which admits non-members and also provides clay shooting lessons. Or if golf is your thing, then try the Mendip golf club, which is a great course and not too difficult.

         

          For those who just want to take things easy, and relax, well, this is the place to that too!

       The Pound Inn, is a lovely 15th Century Inn situated just 2 miles from the City of Wells, and is a great place to meet up with friends, or entertain guests. We have a large car park so there is no problem with parking.

        You will find The Pound Inn to be very welcoming and full of charm, with a fantastic happy and vibrant atmosphere.

         We welcome families with well behaved children, both to eat and to stay in our accommodation. Dogs, too are welcome, in the bar area, on a lead and well behaved. Please telephone before booking if you wish to bring a dog with you, to check for availability.

        We serve food every day, but are closed on Monday and Tuesday Lunch times.

        On Sunday we run the Carvery and offer a choice of meats: Devon Red Beef, Organic Pork and Free Range Chicken, and fresh seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes

        We serve delicious Fish and Chips and on Thursday Evenings Fish and Chips are available for Take-Away, using only Fresh Fish fried in our own batter.
